Noion technology provides a high film thickness, often too high in magnitude to be measured in existing equipment. The products offer an excellent “deforce” by simply keeping the surfaces apart in a very effective way. They are Dynamic Energy Saving Shearable Surface Separators (DE4S = Deforce). Because of the thick film, vibration and noise can be eliminated, and friction under heavy loads can be significantly reduced. Lower friction leads to lower running temperatures, thereby minimizing the total energy losses in a machine. Better for finances; better for the environment.

Verified in both laboratory tests and real life, lubricants based on Noion technology last about 7 times longer than conventional greases (such as lithium EP2). Benefits include lower service costs, less downtime, and improved reliability. Not to forget a good night’s sleep for the maintenance manager.

Noion controls the oil bleed and properties of the released oil, which means you can design lubricants for low temperatures with a significantly reduced risk of starvation (dry running). We ran a Noion product in a test rig, and when the temperature fell, all sorts of problems were experienced – the electronics didn’t work and the paint peeled off the machines. But, the lubrication just got better and better.

Thanks to a combination of high adhesion and low solubility, Noion fights process water, metal working emulsions, acids, bases and other types of chemicals in the surrounding environment. Good surface protection, high corrosion resistance and low risk of leakage (and subsequent contamination) under wash out conditions are some of the advantages.

The fact that Noion contributes to a longer life also contributes to a better environment – through less depletion of finite resources and less need to replace lubricated products. Compared to conventional greases, Noion also needs a lower dosage of additives for the same effect. Noion also works with biodegradable alternatives, such as sunflower oil.
The thickener is based on polymer technology and there are no chemical reactions in the production process. Therefore, Noion simplifies REACh compliance and eliminates the need for expensive HSE testing compared to in-situ reacted soaps.
The non-toxic nature of the polypropylene and other components makes Epoch a harmless technology for human beings and for the environment. You can, for example, use it in lubricants for food-grade production with no consequences in the event of incidental contact.
